Community Work
Megan began outreach work when she was just 14 in the dementia specialist care home her grandma was in, originally playing just for her until other residents wanted to join and opened up the informal performances, working with the staff to make sure it enhanced the experience of being a resident there. Since those small intimate performances, Megan has performed at multiple care homes in both North Yorkshire and London, and has branched out via the Open Academy scheme to participate in workshops and performances in educational settings such as City Lit percussion orchestra and Netley Primary school, where she works with individuals with learning difficulties and autism create music and in further care settings, including the Royal London Hospital Paediatric centre and Wigmore Hall's Singing with friends.
Megan thoroughly enjoys this work, which is shown in her care and drive for it, believing that music is for everyone and should be accessible. Music can be one of the greatest therapies and greatest joys so why not share it wherever possible.
